Phalsey ka Sharbat (Indian Black Currant Drink)

Beat the summer heat with this refreshing Phalsey ka Sharbat! This tangy, sweet, and cooling drink is perfect for hot days and packed with natural antioxidants.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh falsa (Indian black currants)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black salt (kala namak)
  • Ice cubes (as needed)
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the falsa berries thoroughly and soak them in water for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Drain and transfer the berries to a blender.
  3. Add a little water (about 1/2 cup) and blend until smooth.
  4. Strain the mixture using a fine sieve or muslin cloth to remove seeds and pulp.
  5. In a large jug, combine the falsa juice with the remaining water.
  6. Add sugar and black salt, and stir well until the sugar dissolves completely.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness or salt if needed.
  8. Serve chilled with ice cubes and garnish with mint leaves if desired.

Tip: You can also refrigerate the sharbat for a few hours to enhance its flavor before serving.
