Broccoli contains large green florets, usually arranged in a tree-like structure that grows from a thick, edible stalk. It is heavy to digest, so advisable to cook with other vegetables like cabbage, capsicum, potatoes, and carrots. The best way to eat broccoli is to steam or boil it to make a salad to preserve the nutrients. Broccoli is rich in minerals and vitamins. Broccoli contains essential nutrients like Vitamins C, K, folate, and chromium. It is also a good source of dietary fiber, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin E, manganese, phosphorus, choline, vitamin B1, vitamin A (as a carotenoid), potassium, and copper. Broccoli also contains phytonutrients and glucosinolates. The isothiocyanates made from glucosinolates in it help prevent cancer.
