Besan Cubes is a delicious sweet dish that is made with gram flour, ghee, mava, sugar, and dry fruits. It is cooked in a thick sugar syrup and then cut into slices. It is different from the regular Cubes and has a rich and nutty flavour.
Ingredients of Besan Cubes:
- Gram flour(Besan) - 1 cup.
- Ghee - half cup.
- Khoya aka Mava(Condensed Milk) - half cup.
- Sugar - half cup.
- Almonds and pistachios (chopped) - half cup .
Method for Besan Cubes:
- Heat ghee in a non-stick pan over low flame. Add gram flour and roast it lightly until it releases a nice aroma. Do not over roast the flour or it will turn bitter.
- In another pan, take enough water to cover the sugar and bring it to a boil. Cook until it reaches a one and a half string consistency. You can check this by taking a drop of syrup between your thumb and index finger and stretching it. It should form one and a half threads without breaking.
- Once the syrup is ready, turn off the flame and add the roasted flour and mava to it. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
- Add chopped almonds and pistachios and mix well.
- Spread the mixture in a greased tray with a spatula. Smoothen the surface and let it cool down.
- Cut into slices of desired shape and size.
