Ingredients for smoked paneer masala:

  • Tomato - 4 (300 grams)
  • Ginger - 1 inch
  • Green chili - 2
  • Dry red chili - 1
  • Paneer - 250 grams
  • Cinnamon slice - 1 inch
  • Curry leaves - 2 small pieces
  • Cloves - 3
  • Green cardamom - 3
  • Black pepper - 7
  • Kasuri Methi - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander - 3 tbsp
  • Paneer - ½ cup (grated)
  • Oil - 4 tbsp
  • Butter - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Piece of coal - 1
  • Capsicum - 1
  • Asafoetida - ½ pinch
  • Cumin seeds - 1.25 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder - ½ tsp
  • Cashew - 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp

Method of smoked paneer masala:

  1. Cut all the tomatoes, green chilies, ginger pieces, and dry red chili into small pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a frypan on a low flame. Add cumin, cinnamon, curry leaves, cloves, pepper, and temper it. When it is lightly roasted then add tomatoes, green chilies, ginger pieces, and cashews in it and cover it with a lid, and cook (approximately 5-10 minutes) till the tomatoes become very soft.
  3. Then take off the pan from the gas and let it cool. Then grind all the stuff.
  4. Now put again 3 tablespoons of the oil in a frypan and heat it.
  5. Then add cumin seeds, tomato paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and kasoori methi and fry on a low flame till the spices start to emit the fragrance.
  6. The oil will start to separate. Then add chopped capsicum and fry it more. add 1 cup water, salt, and chopped coriander to it and mix. Now add pre-chopped cottage cheese and grated paneer into it and mix it well.
  7. Now cover this gravy with a lid and let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes on a low flame.
  8. Heat the piece of the coal till it will become orange, then put it in a small bowl and apply some oil and asafoetida on it then put the bowl in the pan and close the lid.
  9. after 12-15 minutes, open the lid and take out the coal.
  10. Serve the smoked paneer masala in the bowl, and decorate with butter and garnish with coriander over it.
The nutritious dish of smoked paneer masala with cashew is ready. Have it with salad and source, and roti/kulcha/paratha/bread.
