Ingredients for making gourd dhokla:

  • A large gourd - 1,
  • Chopped green chilies - 5,
  • Chopped coriander leaves - half cup,
  • Curd - 1 cup,
  • Semolina - two cups,
  • Gram flour - one cup,
  • Baking soda - half a teaspoon,
  • Vinegar (white or whatever you like) - 2 tablespoons,
  • Salt - as per taste

Ingredients for chutney:

  • Raw peanuts - half a cup,
  • Peeled coconut - half cup,
  • Adu - 2 small pieces,
  • Curd - 1 cup,
  • Chopped green chilies - 5,
  • Salt,
  • Some water,

Method of preparation of gourd dhokla:

  1. First of all, peel the skin and clean the gourd evenly with water and cut it into small pieces of medium size so that it is easy to make gravy.
  2. Make gravy by adding gourd pieces and chopped green chilies in the grinder.
  3. Take out the gravy in a vessel, still a lot of gravy will stick in the jar, so add water to the jar and shake and put it in the gravy.
  4. Put curd, semolina, gram flour and salt in the gravy and mix it evenly and keep it covered for 5-7 minutes.
  5. In a deep vessel (as used to make cakes), apply oil to the inner wall. Put the gravy in it, add baking soda and vinegar to it and sprinkle chopped coriander leaves over it.
  6. Mix well and cook on a high flame in a steamer (dhokla maker) for 10 minutes.
  7. Fill the vessel in half because the gravy will be two-fold during cooking.
  8. After about ten minutes, open the lid and squeeze the knife to see if it is cooked or not. If cooked, it will not stick on the knife.
  9. Remove the utensil from the steamer and let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes (or longer), then invert the utensil in a plate and take out the dhokla and cut it into square shape with a knife.
  10. Breakfast of gourd dhokla is ready.
  11. Method of making chutney:
  12. Make raw chutney by adding raw peanuts, peeled coconut, pieces of Adu, green chillies, flax, salt, and a little water in a grinder jar.
  13. Your gourd dhokla and chutney is ready.
